ITINERARY

Day 1: Snoqualmie and Fremont Neighborhood

We arrived in Seattle at 10:30 pm, so there wasn’t much to do except head to bed and get ready for the next day. Following a rejuvenating night’s rest at our friend’s house in Seattle, we eagerly embarked on a day filled with exploration and discovery in Snoqualmie. Despite the whims of the weather, including cloudy skies and sporadic rain showers, we embraced the refreshing mid-50s temperatures and made the most of our day, immersing ourselves in a plethora of experiences and sights that Seattle had to offer.

Details:

Morning: Snoqualmie Falls provided a breathtaking backdrop for our 2-mile trek from the summit to the base of the falls. En route, we encountered centuries-old trees, whimsical mushrooms, and a treasure trove of natural wonders.

Lunch: We had lunch at Snoqualmie Brewery, where we enjoyed a hearty goulash and classic fish and chips. Our midday meal at the brewery satisfied our appetites and offered a taste of local flavors. After lunch, we visited the Snoqualmie Railroad Museum, which showcased a mesmerizing assortment of historic trains. Adjacent to the museum, a house creatively transformed a caboose into an Airbnb accommodation. The museum grounds were adorned with cherry blossoms in full bloom, creating a picturesque setting that begged to be captured through our lenses.

Evening: We enjoyed dinner at Ivar’s Salmon House, which is nestled on the waterfront. We had their “Taste of Northwestern Pacific” dish, featuring grilled halibut, king salmon, and succulent scallops. The panoramic views of the river added to the ambiance and complemented the exquisite flavors of the Pacific Northwest cuisine. My personal favorite was the perfectly cooked halibut. After dinner, we headed to the Fremont neighborhood, where we encountered the whimsical Fremont Troll, a larger-than-life sculpture that added a touch of playfulness to our day.

Day 2: Tacoma, Lincoln Park, and Bainbridge Island

On our second day, we explored the vibrant city of Tacoma, visiting its famous Glass Museum before heading back to search for the famous troll at Lincoln Park. We then embarked on a scenic ferry ride to Bainbridge Island, where we spent the night in a charming Hobbit House.

Details:

Morning: We started the day in Tacoma at the Great Wall Shopping Mall, a bustling Asian market brimming with delectable eateries and merchandise. We warmed our souls with a steaming bowl of pho at Pho To Chau, followed by a refreshing bubble tea from “Mia and Tea,” where we sampled tantalizing snacks to fuel our adventures ahead.

Afterward, we headed to Tacoma’s waterfront, where we strolled across the mesmerizing Chihuly Bridge of Glass, adorned with stunning glass installations that captivated our senses. The Museum of Glass left us in awe with its exquisite glass artworks, prompting us to bring home a few treasures to cherish the memory.

Afternoon: We found ourselves amidst the lush greenery of Lincoln Park, where we encountered the enchanting Bruunidun troll, crafted by the talented Danish artist Thomas Damb. This whimsical creature serenaded us with its flute, evoking a sense of wonder as we imagined the native Orcas being called home.

Evening: Our adventure continued as we hopped on a scenic ferry to Bainbridge Island, where a cozy hobbit house awaited us for the night. Embracing the hobbit spirit, we savored Pacific lobster tails and Korean BBQ cooked over a crackling campfire, with Kevin embodying the role of a jovial hobbit. Our family transformed into hobbits for a day, reveling in the simple joys of a hobbit’s life.

Day 3: Exploring the Olympic Peninsula and the Space Needle Marvels

After a restful night’s sleep at the charming Hobbit House, we were filled with anticipation as we welcomed a new day in Seattle. The clear azure sky promised a day of adventure and wonder. Accompanied by our friend, we embarked on a grand journey to the majestic Olympic Peninsula and the iconic Space Needle, immersing ourselves in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Details:

Morning: Fort Worden State Park – We were captivated by the sweeping panoramic views, leisurely walks along pristine beaches, and the exploration of historic sites such as the Point Wilson lighthouse and the intriguing fort. The old bunkers, cannons, and breathtaking ocean vistas added to the charm of this place.

Afternoon: Dungeness Wildlife Refuge – The encounters with the famed Split and the serene untouched wilderness left us in awe of the marvels of nature.

On our way back from the Olympic Peninsula, we made a culinary detour to the Seven Brothers casino. I savored a dish of geoduck linguine with a delightful lemon vinaigrette sauce. The geoduck, resembling a clam but with a pleasantly chewy texture, provided a unique culinary experience. Meanwhile, our friend and my husband enjoyed succulent pork chops and flavorful wings. The diverse kids’ menu pleased our young companion, Kevin, who chose the classic Mac and cheese. A shared plate of crispy calamari added a crunchy contrast to our meal. Although we didn’t delve into the realm of gambling, the tiki-themed ambiance of the Indian hotel added a whimsical touch to our dining experience.

Evening: Space Needle – Ascending to its pinnacle, we were greeted by awe-inspiring vistas of the city below. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the second level, where we experienced the thrill of walking on a rotating floor. The heights stirred a delightful flutter of excitement in our hearts.

Day 4: Discovering the City – Alki Beach, Pike Place Market, Discovery Park

Our fourth day in Seattle was filled with city exploration as we prepared to rest early for our early morning flight to Los Angeles, beginning the second part of our Spring Break trip.

Details:

Morning: Alki Beach impressed us with its serene waters and scenic bike trails. Despite the weather, we even spotted a starfish, adding to the charm of our visit.

Afternoon: Pike Place Market delighted us with its lively fish stalls and the famous Beecher’s Mac and Cheese. One of the highlights was tasting fresh sea urchin and stocking up on seafood. We also indulged in exquisite dim sum at Jade Garden Seafood in Chinatown.
